ENTREPRENEUR JOURNEY

ONLINE COURSE TITLE:

The Entrepreneurial Journey

Course Description: 3 Credit - 10 week e-learning course

The Entrepreneurial Journey is about who you are, what you do, and why you do it. The who you are looks at the persona of many successful entrepreneurs. What do they possess? How did they get it? It assesses the myths surrounding the stereotypical entrepreneur and uncovers the passion that drives all entrepreneurs. You will be forced to assess whether your own attitudes and mindset match any that are presented in the text.

The what you do is about learning to think like an entrepreneur and acquiring the necessary tool sets to become successful. Entrepreneurs face the challenge of starting, acquiring, or expanding a firm through a process known as feasibility. Feasibility seeks to answer the question: under what conditions are you willing to proceed? The what you do incorporates (a) learning about the entrepreneurial business concept and how to test that concept, (b) defining your customer as well as your sales and distribution channels, (c) dealing with patterns of change in your industry of choice, (d) translating the features of your product or service into benefits, and (e) defining how much and what type of money you will need to start your business.

The why you do it centers around the goal of harvesting the business. You will create something of value and then decide whether it will remain a lifestyle business supporting your chosen level of living, or whether it has a value that should be harvested. What is your strategy: lifestyle or exit?
